Workshops let you achieve culturally sensitive, time efficient and effective story, folklore and oral history collecting, telling and archiving.
All workshops include:
Pre-workshop consulting on goals and topic selection
A workshop packet with lesson plans for the training and story swapping
Follow-up support after the project
Introductory Workshop
60 - 90 Minutes
AGES 7-90+
Explanation & Participation in an abbreviated Swapping Stories Workshop
All participants tell their story to a partner, but emphasis is on the structure of the stories and personal listening, not on delivery or sharing with a large group.
This introductory session does not provide training in duplicating Swapping Stories
Four hours of planning or follow up consulting is included
Participatory Workshop
3 - 4 Hour Sessions
Ages 9+ - 90+
Includes two hours pre-planning or follow up consulting.
Two or three sixty- to ninety-minute preparatory workshops with each group or one half day for each group
This workshop provides training in oral presentation Skills and Helps Improve Self Confidence in public Speaking
All participants swap stories and volunteers tell their stories to the whole group.
Swapping Stories **
Custom Projects
Ages 9+ - 90+
One day for planning, meeting, goal setting, and evaluation procedures
Two or three sixty- to ninety-minute preparatory workshops with each group or one half day for each group
One joint Story Swapping session (two to three hours)
Workshop packet with lesson plans for the training and story swapping
Follow-up via e-mail or phone
Audio/Videotaping Editing are the School or Organization's Responsibilities. Additional consulting and script writing services are available.
